Appearance

Konan wears a standard Akatsuki cloak as all the members do: a black cloak with red clouds, with white trim around the clouds. She also wears black stockings that cover up to her toes, and white sandals. Her fingernails and toenails are painted purple, and on her right middle finger is her ring, which means white. Her hair is blue, kept up in a bun, and accented with a white paper flower. Her eyes are bright blue and she has a silver stud on her lower lip. She does wear makeup--lipstick, usually in light pinks or blues, and mascara, and her face is a bit paler than one might think normal, although not entirely out of the range of human.

Personality

Konan does her best to project an emotionless exterior, as this is what she thinks a good angel should be like. She views herself as God's Angel, all her actions being an extension of what Pein asks her to do or what she believes Pein would want her to do in a situation. As a result, to others she comes across as cold, a reputation she does nothing to disprove. Her expressions, when shown, are guarded, and she does not speak more than necessary. In truth, Konan can be very kind, and while she will kill if ordered to or to protect her own life, she generally takes missions that involve spying and gathering information rather than definite combat.

She follows Pein because she believes his goals are good. She believes the world is in need of healing, and that with the current way things work, Pein's way is the one which makes the most sense. She often folds cranes in large batches, hoping for the world to be healed. Around others she holds herself at a distance, rarely uses honorifics, and generally acts as she believes an angel should. She only gives out respect when it is earned, and is not fond of lying or stretching the truth to spare anyone's feelings. Similarly, she holds herself to this standard: she is respected because she has earned it, and does not take kindly to sycophants.

Abilities & Weaponry

Konan has the ability to disperse her entire body, clothing and all, into paper. When she does this, she can then fold the pieces into various things, such as butterflies for surveillance. She also forms a set of paper angel wings for flying while maintaining her own body. She is limited only by her imagination in her folding. Individual pieces of paper can be used as well--she can fold them normally and animate them if she wishes. She is a very powerful kunoichi, carrying only paper as her weapon. Under her control, paper can be made as sharp as any normal kunai, and she does make paper ones. Any paper can be used, although she favors the square ones she carries, but this makes her dangerous, as any paper near her could be a weapon.

She is Pein's partner, as well, and as such does have command over the other Akatsuki. While she would only order them to act as a result of Pein's commands, or if she feels Pein would wish for her to act, she still does have that ability.

As a more mundane ability, Konan is very skilled at origami. She can make anything out of paper given time to make it, from intricate animals to the flower she keeps in her hair.

Weaknesses

As her jutsus rely on paper to work, dumping thick liquid such as oil on her, or extremely heavy downpours, will render her incapable of using them, as the paper will stick together. She also follows Pein's commands without question, and so if someone were to gain control of Pein, they would gain control of her, and if he were to order her to stand down, she would. When she disperses her body into paper, she is at risk of losing pieces of herself. While this can be repaired with more paper, if all of the paper were to be destroyed, she would be, too.

History

Konan was an orphan of the civil war constantly going on in Amegakure when she was a child. She travelled with Nagato and Yahiko, begging for food and generally trying to survive. It was during this time that she encountered Jiraya. Jiraya looked after the three of them and trained them to be shinobi for three years before leaving them. Konan still refers to Jiraya as "sensei", and does have respect for him. After Jiraya left them, Konan continued to travel with her two friends, vowing to stay with them no matter what. When Yahiko died, she became even more determined to remain with Nagato, and when he declared himself a god, renamed himself Pein, and declared that he would fix the world, Konan declared herself his angel and would stay by his side to help him, no matter what. She was there when he took over Amegakure.

She worked with Pein in forming Akatsuki as his second-in-command, the only one who dared call him Pein. She had a say in selecting the members, although she always deferred to Pein's will, and before Zetsu joined she did most of the spy work. She mostly stays by Pein's side, ready to do whatever he asks of her. What missions she does take are generally of utmost importance to furthering Akatsuki's goals as a whole; if she is being sent, it means Pein wants it done right. She had been going to intercept Jiraya at Pein's request when she was sent to Paixao.
